I am really excited to share with everyone my new logo and branding. I have never thought about branding myself for my involvement and advocacy work but while at HealtheVoices19 it became very clear that this was something I needed to do to become as effective as I could be. It was my chance that I had some of my Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research (AUKCAR) business cards with me, the number I had with me was not enough and I went through the small pile very quickly.
A year ago AUKCAR was one of the main things I was involved in and did but recently things have exploded and taken me on so many new paths such as being an advocate, a writer, public speaker to name a few. Friends I made in Dallas all had their brand for the work they did, it was not so much of a brand but a unique identifier to them.
I am not the most technically gifted (I can work apps and things but when it comes to graphics and design I am hopeless. I found a graphic designer who I was able to work with locally and we have come up with what I think is the perfect logo for me and we have put together some business cards too.
I met with Will from Edinburgh Logo Design and had a chat about me, things I do so he could get to know me a bit more and then also we discussed what I was wanting, what is important and any ideas I had.
The important thing for me was that there was some nod to asthma, breathing or lungs but it did not have to be glaringly obvious. I also wanted the logo to say what I did along with my name but kept very clean. For the colour scheme I wanted it simple, not too many colours so elected for one colour with white.
Will came up trumps. The colours we decided on was teal (one of my favourite colours) and a charcoal, the charcoal only being used for my name everything else is teal on white or white on teal.
The image part of the logo is:
The story behind the image is incorporating my initials with breathing. You can see the O at the top of the logo and then the F in cursive is the bottom part of the logo. The entire logo signifies a breath or air linking me with breathing.
The entire logo is:
I chose the words advocacy and involvement because they are the best 2 that describe what I do, there was not enough room for advocacy, awareness, patient and public involvement, patient engagement, writer, public speaker etc.
I am so chuffed with how this has all turned out. I have also had business cards designed to which once they arrive I will post them too!!!
