Off to my consultants appointment. But not before a strange call from my GP surgery telling me my blood test result was normal but my theophylline level was 14. I have no ideas what the therapuetic range is and have no idea if 14 is good bad or ugly?? Guess the call came at the right time so I can tell my consultant as he will know. I hope it is all fine as I dont waqnt to ahve to take more tablets or a higher dose as that will jsut make the side effects worse.
off i go…

I am a nurse and passionate about all sports but due to brittle asthma I find myself on the sidelines more and more often. I use my experience with Brittle Asthma to raise awareness about asthma and how change needs to be made. I volunteer as a PPI lead for the Asthma UK Applied Research Centre who aim to reduce asthma deaths, reduce hospital admissions due to asthma and encourage good asthma control. I try not let asthma stop me. This is my life with asthma charting the highs and lows and different experiences due to having brittle asthma. It has shaped me as a person and dictated what I do in life but I won't let it stop me. View all posts by justTUX
The range for therapeutic levels is between 10 and 20, i think, hope appt goes ok and con has some ideas of what to do with you. 🙂
Hmmm does your lack of an update post appt mean you’ve been admitted?
Hope you’re feeling better soon!
I’ve fond you again!
Clare is right – the therapeutic range for theophylline is 10 – 20, but apparently there can be some benefits at a level as low as 4. You’re absolutely fine with a level of 14 though.
